Kehl lies in the area between Karlsruhe and Freiburg directly on the Rhine
river across from the European city of Strasbourg. To the west, the Vogesen
mountain range and towards the east, the Black Forest; Kehl is a great starting
point for trips on either side of the Rhine.
The arial picture shows the French side of the Rhine. The last of the 3
bridges (right) ist the Passerelle des deux Rives. This spectacular construction
of the French architecht Marc Mimram has connnected Kehl and Strassbourg
since the crossborder garden show in 2004. The bridge is for cyclists and
pedestrians. The red arrow points to our house. On the right you see the
Old Rhine and the Kehl public pool. In the upper left, you can see the Kehl
harbor.

Our house is between the Rhine and the Old Rhine, both reachable within 2-3 minutes on foot. On the Old Rhine there is a wonderful water playground and boat rental. A few steps away the 44 meter tall White fir tower. Once you have climbed the 210 steps, you can enjoy the fantastic view from the Vogesen Mountains to the famous Black Forest.
The
photo on the left shows the view from the White Fir Tower, the “Weisstannenturm”,
to the North. In the foreground the boat rental and in the background the
pedestrian/cyclist bridge.
This
picture was taken from the White Fir Tower. Walking along the Old Rhine,
you can reach Kehl’s downtown area in 10 minutes. In the background
you see the church tower and the market square.

You can reach the center of Strasbourg in approximately 30 minutes by bus and tram. The cathedral, the picturesque quarter of „Petite France”, European Parliament and much more. We have maps of Strassbourg, just ask us.
Kehl is approximately one hour driving time from Karlsruhe, Freiburg or the Black Forest. The Alsatian Wine Road is just as close as well as Germany’s largest amusement park Europapark.
We know the area extremely well and are happy to share ideas.
